As all days are, I think,  but I've read some things about a special UV light coming in from the galaxies tomorrow which will particularly amplify the effects of our thoughts and feelings as manifesters of reality.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tomorrow is also the day GWBush is slated to sign the torture legalization bill into law. We are primarily Spirit, using these bodies and minds to learn lessons so that we can evolve spiritually.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You've heard the expression, "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are Spiritual beings having a human experience!"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our Spirit or Sacred Self needs no protection whatsoever, because it cannot be harmed or altered in any way. It is a perfect eternal piece of the Godhead or the Universe, whatever you want to call it. What happens to your emotions, your body, or your brain chemicals will never change the perfection of the Real Sacred You in any way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, if we have incarnated in these bodies in order to fully express our Spirit/Sacred Selves, thereby evolving ourselves and the collective (which I believe we have), then we may choose/need to PROTECT THE TEMPORARY PARTS OF OURSELVES, like our bodies, our human feelings, our subtle energy fields, or the purity of our thought patterns.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So here we are, looking at this question of protection and boundaries from two levels at once. Get it?  We are "walking between the worlds" of perception here. From the highest frequency or spiritual viewpoint, no one needs any protection, as there is nothing to fear. From this viewpoint we can stand ready to follow our Sacred Selves anywhere, to do anything we feel spiritually led to do, to let go of absolutely anything that may be in the way of our Sacred Path, because we know we will be fine.   That's the highest level from which to look at this.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The second level is the human one: the view from that part of us that is very attached to our lives, our bodies, our homes, our human relationships, and our work just the way they are now, and would feel lost if things changed.&lt;br /&gt;Alternatively, our human selves may feel like NOTHING we experience right now is good enough - not the relationships, the work, the body, or the living situation.  Either way, whether our human selves are clinging to the present conditions or resisting them and yearning toward a different future, that constitutes a judgement we may need to question.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We may need to look at our lives from the first, Spiritual viewpoint. For example, what if I don't have a love relationship right now and my human self feels incomplete without it?  My human judgment is that "this is wrong" or "I am bad" because I don't have a relationship.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But what does my Sacred Self have to say about this?  When I take time to listen to it, it may say something like "This is an opportunity to get to know yourself". Or, "Now you can find your strength and love INSIDE you", or even, "FINALLY WE ARE ALONE TOGETHER! Let's be best friends!"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's another example:  Say I have a job but it is not satisfying to my human self - maybe it is boring or doesn't utilize my skills, so I feel kind of fallow, and not on my Sacred Path. My human side may say "Why is this so hard? Why am I here, bored?" What might the Sacred Self say, if I took the time to ask?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"What is there for you to learn or give here?" or "Exactly what do you want instead?" or "How can you take responsibility for getting what you want, for co-creating it with God(dess)?" or "What jewels are here right now that you are not enjoying?"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So we've talked about two parts of ourselves, the Sacred Self and the Human Self, and the fact that the Sacred Self needs no protection, yet we might choose to protect the Human Self.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One main way to protect the Human Self is to keep reminding it that the Sacred Self is right there, safe and loving, all the time. Human Self needs to be reprogrammed from whatever its illusionary childhood programs were. Examples: "I am alone and unsafe." No one cares about me." "I cannot save myself from this craziness" (That final one was actually true, as a child. You couldn't!  But as adults it's no longer true, and we need to update the program for our Human Selves.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another example : "I have to save the others, and I have the power to do so."  Of course kids need to believe they are powerful over dysfunctional parents or guardians, because at that aage they can't take in the truth that their guardians may not be able to protect and nurture them fully. So this belief in our power to change others is a defense against a devastating emotion of helplessness and survival fear.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's on the human level.  In the present, as adults, when we are hooked up and co-creating with our Sacred Selves, we do have some measure of power to encourage and model change in other humans. But from our Sacred Self place, we will want to respect the choices of others, not manipulate them into something we believe to be for their Highest Good without their consent, possibly depriving them of the lessons they may need to grow spiritually.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So here we are still with the idea of protection of our Human Selves. What components make up our Human Selves and how can we "protect" each one?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hawaiian Shamanism (Kahuna) thinks of humans as having three parts, which are  1 - the  subconscious mind, 2 - the conscious mind, and 3 - the superconscious mind.  These are kind of like the Freudian id, ego, and superego, only with more allowance for Spirit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 - PROTECTING THE SUBCONSCIOUS:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;a - Reprogram it and clear the old faulty programs out of it, because all subconscious beliefs send out transmissions and requests to the Universe, and if, for example, I'm here consciously wanting a certain career, but subconsciously sending out messages of "I'm afraid! I can't do it! Keep it away from me!", the Universe is going to get mixed messages! This reprogramming function is why we in the New Thought community have talked about affirmations and regular meditation and/or prayer for so long.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;b - Modulate the experience of the subconscious in everyday life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A good parent will not let a kid get too stressed out too long or too often. Our conscious selves can act as good parents to our subconscious selves. For example, I never let my subconscious see violent movies because she remembers the horrible mental pictures FOREVER! I have pictures in my head from scary books and TV shows from when I was a little kid, because my parents and I didn't know to regulate my exposure to these kinds of things.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also, it is in my power to control, partly, the influences that surround me everyday. If I have had some intense client sessions, I can choose not to have a long conversation that day with a temporarily needy friend. I can tell him that we need to talk another day, that I have hit my limit for that day, thereby communicating my boundary. Since he is an adult and I am not his parent, it is not my obligation to be there for him no matter what, just as it is not his job to be there for me no matter what.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On a deeper level, I may have a friend or be involved in a relationship that seems to chronically drain me. I can honestly and respectfully share my experience with this friend, if I am invested in trying to work it through. If for whatever reason he is not in a place to engage in this dialogue and self-reflection with me, I can choose to do one of 3 things: 1 - I can limit my interactions with him to those that feel reciprocal and nurturing to me, if there are any left, or 2 - I can let him go, for now, trusting that the Universe and both our High Selves will keep us connected on a spiritual level, but for now, on a Human Level, I am free to not engage in situations which feel wrong for me, at least now, or 3 - I can pray, contact my Sacred Self, and listen for guidance on this particular day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;c - Protection of the Subconscious from Itself.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gently disciplining our subconscious NOT TO RUN RIOT on fears, angers, hopelessness or other negativity. Again we can play the good parent role here. If you were a parent of a scared toddler, you wouldn't let her just cry and cry and recycle her fear over and over. You'd hold her, help her evaluate the difference between her fears and what was really happening, and help her calm herself down. We can do this for our subconscious selves too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We don't have to wallop our subconscious, either physically or emotionally, for feeling afraid or negative, because there's no doubt a real reason those feelings got triggered - so we can offer her compassion and love without allowing her fears to "run the show" of our adult lives.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2 - PROTECTING THE BODIES:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;a - The physical body:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We can attend to our health, our diet, our safety, and do what we can to keep the body from physical danger or violence.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;b - The etheric bodies:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Visualize anEGG of light, or boundary around your energy field, and program that EGG so that nothing bad gets in or out. I have a command I give myself every day "I give and recieve only love" - so that that EGG membrane is set to be permeable in the sense that it allows the love frequency in and out, but not "non-love" frequencies. Even my own subconscious negativity can't get out to others as easily, and by the same token I am more protected from others' fear or negativity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;c - Emotional body:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Withdraw your projections.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is mysterious stuff, but it is my belief that when we withdraw our own parental projections on other people, there are fewer "slots" for negativity to influence us. In other words, the more responsibility we take for ourselves the less openings there are for other people or forces to mess with us! When even an unconscious part of ourselves believes we are a victim and have no power over ourselves, that's a place for a fear or an anger or a hopelessness to get in from OUTSIDE.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So we can clear these "victim beliefs" through 1 - becoming aware of them, 2 - feeling whatever leftover emotions are in there (in a safe adult place), and 3 - replacing them with the new grown-up programming we have chosen.  This clearing can be greatly assisted by contact with other humans who are connected to spiritual power: a friend, a Circle, a life coach, a healer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We can also step into our Power (and be the "anti-victim") by doing our imperfect best to decide on our Sacred Life Purpose, and live it out as best we can. This focuses our attention on the forward movement of our lives, and if over time, we develop a different understanding of our Sacred Purpose, we can always change it, and will have no doubt learned from the path we have already walked.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;d - Electromagnetic body:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Energetic grounding cord to center of earth, hookup to High Self, Highest of the High, stars, etc. We are circuit completers between Heaven and Earth. We feel best when we are functioning energetically in this way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3 - PSYCHIC PROTECTION:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Choose the ideas you resonate with or find your own:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;a - AFFIRMATIONS:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I give and recieve only love. I am infused with the Spirit of the Highest of the High God, and I command all that is not Love to LEAVE ME NOW AND FOREVER. The power of God is within me; the grace of God surrounds me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;b - PRAYER:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;23rd Psalm: The Lord is my Shepherd. OM. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Baruch ata Adonai, eloheinu melech ha alom. Allah.  Archangetl Michael  Call on WHOEVER your spiritual helpers are, in any way you can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;c - MAGICK:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Banishment Spell - There are pentagram movements and Hebrew words that have been used for eons to banish negative thoughts, thought forms, black magick, ill health, and confused or malevolent entities from our energy fields. One can research this in Dion Fortune's classic book "Psychic Self-Defense".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;d - SHAMANIC CLEARING:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Call in the Seven Directions: the powers of the East, South, West, North, the Powers Above(sky), The Powers Below(earth), and the Power Within You.   A good shamanic practitioner can teach this.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ultimately, protection is about where you put your sacred attention.  One day, your conscious mind will, through your choices to evolve, be totally in control of where you put your attention.  Right now you may not have that level of self-control. A few nights ago I got a call from an Algonquin medicine man who knows I sing and meditate.  He had received instructions from some elders in Canada to assist in reviving an ancient chant for the healing of water, and they had wanted me to participate.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He taught me the chant over the phone, and I brought in two of my other singer friends who are very plugged in spiritually, and we chanted for almost an hour.  It was an ecstatic experience and quite difficult to fully convey in words.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the "Right-Brain Heaven" post below one may read another effective way to "Dream with Others".  Also I am part of a Prayer Circle by teleconference call, which often meets weekely to articulate and support one another's highest Intentions. We have grown up with the abuse of power, and the exploitation of those who perceive themselves as powerless. These abuses and exploitations have taken several forms:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 - Perhaps most of us have had family abuses (ranging from implicit sexism in the parental marriage to religious programming which puts shackles on our self-esteem and ability to connect directly to Spirit, to outright physical or sexual abuse of ourselves or siblings).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2 - Many layers of economic inequality within our global society, including wage slavery now.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3 - The ongoing abuse and exploitation of the planet and her resources.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4 - Conditioned overconsumption of food, luxury items, and electronic entertainment, all of which can divert our brains and souls from our natural ways of being, and can also keep us overworking to pay for it all.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5 - Please, readers, add other examples if you are drawn to! There are many.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;SO WE ARE OFTEN unconsciously AFRAID TO USE OUR FULL POWER FOR FEAR WE WILL BECOME LIKE THE ABUSERS/EXPLOITERS.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This resonates with me and I see it in others as well - my clients and my friends. We have been taught to be "good", and that means to go along with the program, or with a system which is not essentially life-affirming.  To use our power to buck these systems can feel scary or unsafe or impossible.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, dear readers, how do we COLLECTIVELY DREAM OURSELVES INTO USING OUR FULL POWER IN THE SERVICE OF ALL LIFE?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There's a couple of interesting books out there trying to address this. One is THE SHIFT: AWAKENING by a Mr. English(which I find stimulating yet differ with in some respects- but WORTH the read),, and another is SHAMBALA by James Redfield, which I adore.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If anyone wants to write me about this - different ways to collectively dream ourselves back into our full power - PLEASE do. We decided to spend unstructured time together, choosing an intention of nurturance for ourselves, each other, and the world around us, but not really pinning anything down besides that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It filled needs in us that were deep and human, and I believe, largely go unsatisfied in the daily melee.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We watched no television or movies, chose to interact very briefly with computers, and consumed food and drink relatively sparingly.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; We talked, shared, performed spontaneous healing work on each other, sometimes sat in silence, composed an intuitive poem, drummed, did a ritual for the emotional and political enlightenment of the world, relaxed, played, and laughed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The time was so not Task Oriented that it was almost completely refreshing. There were a few times that we didn't know what to do next, and a few left frontal brain lobes got a bit anxious. But that was fine too as long as we refrained from "tasking".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Try it. Some of us are not disposed to do &lt;em&gt;anything&lt;/em&gt; like judging, feeling it to be a spiritually arrogant act. And at times it is - for example, when someone judges abortion to be wrong for everyone in all instances. That is ego- judgment, and is a failure to discern that &lt;em&gt;each new situation is a mystery to be learned from through listening to our human and Divine support in the moment.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But we CAN judge for OURSELVES what is right for US. Not only can we, I believe it is our JOB to do so.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If we are truly sparks of Creative Potential (or call it Universe or Goddess or Source or whatever) then we are given the tools with which to create.  And since there are infinite possibilities all around and within us, it's gotta be up to us to use our power to decide where to put our own unique sacred energies in any given moment. Otherwise we're flying blind on someone else's idea of who we are and what we should do, and not connected to our own spiritual callings.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Discernment means checking in on as many levels of self as we can before we act or conclude things.  Listening for the human side, the fearful child-selves, the adult self's passions and longings, the spiritual guidance from the Soul, the body's wisdom, whatever spiritual traditions we choose to participate in. . . all these levels have lessons to teach us to help us discern. to help us discern and judge for ourselves how to use our sacred life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Discernment is very practical many arenas.  Socially it helps us to decide which people are fun and nurturing to be around in our free time. Professionally it's great to have work which we discern to be fulfilling, meaningful, and to pay enough for a comfortable existence (in as much as we have control over that, which is often more than we think!).  Romantically we need to be very attentive about whom we mix our sacred and body energies with, and to whom we commit our intimate time/share our lives with.  We are vessels of sacred life force, and it matters that we use ourselves in the highest ways.  It's what we're here for.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Discernment is using our power to choose how to use our sacred life energy. Trusting our own sources of our inner guidance as the last word for us.  No one else knows better than us -  &lt;em&gt;when we take the responsibility to listen - &lt;/em&gt; what we should do when, whom we should trust, how we should spend our time and other resources.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Many of us have been on the path of growth for a long time, working on our emotional and spiritual selves. Whichever form of Dreaming you've chosen- be it visualization, shamanic journeying, ritual, meditation, prayer, or one of the infinite other methods - &lt;strong&gt;you must during that time say No to other stimuli&lt;/strong&gt; or distractions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This can take some self-trust. Choosing not to engage in inner debate (about what to dream or what Dreamtime method to use that day) for your whole designated Dreamtime takes the courage and discipline to say No to what the Buddhists call "monkey-mind".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Defending the time you have set up in order to dream also requires the art and skill of No.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Other people, tasks, and our egos will always provide a distraction from our Dreamtime if we allow it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you decide to take responsibility for the Dream you wish to create in this life, you will give yourself time for dreaming.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I Dream that we all will take this responsibility and privilege. I like her thinking a lot. &lt;br /&gt;However, in my experience it is also important to emphasize that sometimes the doubts or resistances we find in ourselves are fueled by emotions stuck in the body that need direct attention in order to heal.   Usually a combination of assertive "dreaming" in some form, and the healing of the feelings (in the form of lettting the emotions flow and getting support) does the trick.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So with that caveat, here are Dr. DiGiorgio's thoughts on hypnosis, one form of "dreaming".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a name="1"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;DISPELLING DOUBTS&lt;br /&gt;You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true.You may have to work for it, however. - Richard Bach&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Every once in a while I get emails from people who have heard that their success with hypnosis (KIM'S NOTE - HYPNOTHERAPY IS ONE FORM OF "DREAMING")  depends on their beliefs and are wondering how can they possibly believe in something which they have never experienced.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I also get emails from people who have experienced some initial success and then they found themselves stuck and began doubting their ability to successfully reach their outcomes.&lt;br /&gt;This newsletter is intended to help you overcome doubts in your ability to successfully reach your desired outcomes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What are doubts? Doubts are beliefs. They are judgments you have formed based on the information you have and on your past experiences.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To dispel doubts, you need to do 2 things:- gather more information, and- take massive action.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gathering more information consists of learning about what it takes to accomplish what you desire to accomplish, what are the necessary steps and skills needed to accomplish your desired outcome, exploring what skills you have and which you may yet have to develop, learning about others who might have accomplished what you desire to accomplish and how they did it, finding out what resources - books, tools, courses - are available to you to make it easier for you to learn what you need to learn.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Taking massive action consists of learning the required skills, and applying what you have learned. The learning process consists of engaging in your own experiments - experiments which will help you to prove the assumptions you created in the gathering information stage. Just reading about something won't make much difference in your life until you apply the information you gathered. You may read about many wonders you can accomplish with your mind, but that information will be practically useless to you until you take action to prove this to yourself through your own personal experience.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If the goal you have in feels so big and overwhelming for you that it seems impossible to accomplish - break it down into smaller, manageable steps which you know you can accomplish with a little bit of practice. In this way, you will also get positive feedback and program your subconscious mind with success consciousness.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For example - if you have never used hypnosis and you desire to create changes in your body, your first step may be just learning how to relax, your next step may be to notice the changes in some part of your body, perhaps a finger, as you focus upon it, or to become aware of how when you think of biting into a lemon, your salivary glands begin to secrete more saliva. Through these kinds of experiments you learn to establish solid communication between your mind and your body and you learn that you indeed can influence what goes on in your body with your mind.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you have read previous newsletter articles, you are already familiar with the two simple secrets of successful self-hypnosis:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Experience your desired outcome, in your imagination and in your feelings, as if it were already real for you&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Maintain an open state of mind: if you don't have yet a firm conviction that you can have your outcome, then engage in self-hypnosis with an attitude of openness and curiosity "I wonder what will happen if I do this" and then just let whatever happens happen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sometimes people email me and say "I want to be sure that I am doing it correctly. I want to be sure that I am not making any mistakes" and they get stuck and discouraged because, usually, a lot of practice and a willingness to make lots of errors precedes doing something really well on a consistent basis. Watch any child learning to walk or talk or write and see how "perfect" are their first attempts. Then look back into your own past and examine those skills you mastered in this life - would you say that your initial attempts were perfect?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Three ways to shorten your learning curve and move past the "impossible" barrier&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you learn any skill which is entirely new for you it may seem very hard or even impossible to do.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The first thing you can do to move past the "impossible" barrier is to make a list of skills which even though seemed hard or impossible initially, you have mastered them anyway. You can stick it somewhere on the wall in front of you, as a reminder that you can do anything you set your mind to accomplish.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The second thing you can do is - search your mind for any similar successful learning experiences from your past. For example, if you were learning how to dance, obviously the more dance steps you learned in the past, the easier would it be to master new ones. But even if you never learned any dance steps in your life, you have learned how to move your feet in order to walk - so you start from there. It is important to keep your mind focused on what you can do. You make it easier on yourself by focusing on success. It will help you through any frustrating moments that are a natural part of the learning process.  Have a firm "I can" attitude to push through all the obstacles on your path and the "I can" conviction comes from your past experiences.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The third thing you can do - and this is where the bulk of self-hypnosis comes in - is mentally rehearse your desired outcome as if it were real for you now. Here you are playing with an idea - it doesn't matter how perfect or imperfect you can visualize it and it doesn't matter if that imagery is purely symbolic. If you have a desire for a certain outcome, then you also have an idea of what would you get if that desired outcome were real for you now. You are pretending that it is real to the best of your ability, engaging as many of your senses as you can. You are testing it to see how would you like experiencing it in your outer world. At the same time, you are impressing it upon your subconscious mind. It is becoming a part of your neurology. Through repetition, it is becoming a familiar experience for you. Taking the responsibility to be as clear as possible in the moment about what our vision is, then using some of our energy and applying it in the metaphysical and physical dimensions.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;But what about the times we don't feel like it? Maybe we don't feel like being so adult as to sit down, focus our minds and energies, face whatever resistances are there in the moment, and meditate or visualize?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;It's true, sometimes we do need to just goof off or not focus our energies. Yet if we frequently avoid taking the responsibility to get basically clear on our goals/purposes, and do what we can to manifest them, we are probably unconsciously acting out a "child" or passive role.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;These passive or childlike parts of ourselves may need attention, just like an actual child. It may help if we listen to these parts of us that seem to be blocking the growth our adult selves want. We may need to take the responsibility to relase/feel emotions that aren't so happy or fun. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;Example? I know a woman - call her Jessica - who was not properly diagnosed with an attention deficit disorder as a child. She has a backlog of painful, self-critical failure experiences while trying to study in school. She just wasn't good at it, because her brain didn't work the way it was expected to, and no one knew enough about it to help her sufficiently. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;So even now, when she needs to do simple research (for a new apartment or her taxes for example) she feels stupid and alone and incompetent. If she simply avoids the feelings that come up she may avoid those necessary life activities, thereby reinforcing her view of herself as childlike or incompetent.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;The answer? As always, there's no one right answer, but in general it would help Jessica to get support for her feelings, and practical assistance with her logistics. On subtle levels, we consciously vibrate to a certain frequency of our choice, and then we not only make it more likely that WE will habitually feel this way, but we draw this "frequency range" to us.&lt;br /&gt;In this way we help to create our reality, the the collective reality.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You remember Gandhi's famous quote:  "Be the change you want to see in the world."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is, I believe, one of the noblest applications of the technique of meditation. Try it, try regularly recalling and "feeding yourself" the essence of what you are seeking to create.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If it's happiness, recall a setting or a time you felt happy. If you've never felt the level of happiness that you want to feel, make up a setting or event in which you'd feel great(trust your best guesses), and keep picturing and imagining it.  Let the emotions build.  Or listen to sounds or make sounds or hear music that makes you feel wonderful. Use your senses to "create" in your mind the sensations of happiness.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Or safety. Or peace. Or health. Or great-paying work that feels important to you. Or the essence of what you wish to create more of in your life or on the planet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I believe that it's only when we take time and responsibility to create a "spiritual blueprint" in this way that our lives most closely actually manifest the essences we are seeking.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, I don't feel that meditating or creating a blueprint is &lt;strong&gt;always&lt;/strong&gt; enough.  Sometimes maybe it is, but often we have to do the dang 3D legwork too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For example, if I am sending out the "feeling" of my next perfect work opportunity, I may also have to network for career opportunities or watch the want ads or send my resume or put up my site on the web. Perhaps not - sometimes opportunities do just drop in our laps! This might sound way out, but it is my reality, and has also worked for others.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Examples, you say? I determined around twenty-some years ago to become as clear as I could on my "life purpose", figuring that the clearer I got the more my mind and life could reflect it. I started out with "helping people" and tried to fulfill that well-intentioned generality for a few years. I was indeed provided with many opportunities to help people, professionally and personally.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Along the way I discovered some shortcomings to this statement of my life purpose: for one thing, I needed to specifically discern what was really help. And which people to help. And, was I included in the broad category of "people"? In other words, was it ok to have "helping myself" as part of my life purpose? And, how was I best at helping people? Should I focus on certain ways of helping? And what the heck am I helping people (including myself) to DO?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So I tried to answer these questions as they arose, as best I could at that time, (understanding that the human mind as we've been taught to use it is way too limited to see the big picture in any case), and act on my best guesses.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Each time I did this it took me somewhere I wouldn't have gotten if I hadn't trusted/acted on these temporary answers. Example:  At one point I concluded that one way to help people was to create contexts in which they could get in touch with their emotions and become more free with them.  As I am a singer, I reasoned that music could be a vehicle through which this could happen. I moved to NYC to study vocal music and become a healing vehicle through the field of opera.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It didn't work the way I thought it would. I studied and auditioned for several years in the Big Apple, trying out for the Met and New York City Opera as well as many lesser known companies. I ended up singing twelve lead roles for smaller opera companies and almost inadverdently building a therapy/healing/life coaching practice as a way to help folks and pay the bills until opera became a paying job (which it never did).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But listen to this! In the process I learned to sing in such an emotionally expressive and technically proficient way that I've sung in churches, temples, Native American ceremony, Buddhist ritual, and other spiritual contexts, and in the process of recording my first CD "TRUE VOICE", I hired a wonderful producer whom I ended up marrying and being so happy with for the last four years that I can hardly believe it.  AND, my new husband and I have started a new recording label and performing group (&lt;a href="http://www.healingraingroup.net"&gt;www.healingraingroup.net&lt;/a&gt;) to perform, record,  and disseminate music with a healing function.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This blog is not&lt;strong&gt; all&lt;/strong&gt; about me but I want to give examples of clarity programming Universal Mind. Her other name is Lorriane Mafi-Williams, and she is written about in Steven McFadden's classic LEGEND OF THE RAINBOW WARRIORS. She says:&lt;span style="color:#cc0000;"&gt; "The dreamtime is the source of both past reality and future possibilities." &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;It reminds&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt; me how much power we have, as individuals and together, to determine the future.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;What I mean by dreamtime is the use of our full mental, emotional, and spiritual abilities to manifest what we believe in and want. The ways we can create through dreamtime are infinite, but include meditation, prayer,visualization, group reality creation, physical dreaming, balanced-brain thinking, clarifying one's vision, reading, writing, sleep-dreaming, psychodrama,and resting.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;For example, dreamtime can happen when you're home with the flu or recovering from any physical ailment that keeps you out of your usual routines. The right brain can come more fully into balance with your usually dominant left-brain, and you can "hear" your own inner ideas and messages more fully.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know that dreamtime work isn't always enough. Making a spiritual blueprint often has to be followed by actual daily effort and focused attention. But daily effort without the spiritual blueprint is often scattered and relatively unhelpful in getting our aims met.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"&gt;For some great mental stimulation about dreamtime, see "What The Bleep Do We Know", a great DVD about brain science, quantum physics, and the way we create our realities through our worldviews.
